The article examines the change in the name of the annual fundraising benefit for the Philadelphia Bar Foundation. In 2016, in light of newly discovered information that Andrew Hamilton was a slave owner, the Foundation formed an ad hoc committee which recommended changing the name of the former "Andrew Hamilton Benefit" to better reflect the organization's charitable mission of promoting equal access to justice.
