Less than five years ago, emerging technology companies were the darlings of the "new economy," with seemingly endless financing options to pursue innovative ideas. Angel investors, venture capital firms, incubators, investment banks and virtually anyone with money clamored to get in on the action and invest for fear of being left behind.
